U is for Undertow – Sue Grafton

Ah, Sue Grafton, rolling through the alphabet one mystery at a time.  Pretty sure I have read all of them, so this read was like going to lunch with an old friend; familiar, comfortable, and you know what you are ordering.  Private eye Kinsey Millhone returns with a case that focuses on the story of a missing girl..from 20 years ago.  A man sees something that jogs a childhood memory.  This memory sends Kinsey on a path through an affluent neighborhood that Kinsey grew up on the outskirts of.  As always there are wonderful subplots and the return of characters we “know” at this point.  I hope Ms. Grafton doesn’t stop at Z..Maybe she’ll go double AA, alliteration style.

I just finished X. Keep on rolling, Ms. Grafton. This one has Kinsey steeped in many mysteries, just as the ‘x’ signifies many things. These books will always tug at me, as I used to swap and discuss them with my Grandma, who was one of the few folks that “got” me. Readers of the series will be pleased, as Sue Grafton delivers what is expected at this point: a solid mystery that needs some unraveling.
