This book is by Sandra Brown.  It tells the story of Ella, a single mother in the 1930s who is raising a son who appears to be autisitic.  Even though there was no real diagnosis at that time.  To make ends meet she opens her home and runs it as an old-school boarding house.  Enter the new tennant…Mr. Rainwater.  A fairly easy read, this book is all about choosing to do the right thing.  It also introduced me to the process of killing skinny cows in the bottom of a giant pit for money. Yech.  This was definitely one of those books where I knew exactly what was going to happen before it actually did.  Summer reading=no taxing the mind.
