Hot Diggidy Dog (Not a HotDog) – Yellow Dog Eats

May 23

This sandwich hails from the greater Orlando area; more specifically Yellow Dog Eats in Windermere.  This cozy/cool restaurant is in the National Historic register; the restaurant is ensconced in a house in the middle of a residential area.  (I kept looking for Tiger Woods/hookers; none to be found.)  The staff was extremely friendly and helpful once they found out we had never been there.  We sat downstairs (7 wooden mismatched tables covered with customer graffiti and cute photos of what I am assuming are local/family dogs); you could also sit out back or upstairs.  The downstairs boasted several condiments, sauces, and a pretty eclectic and impressive wine selection.  My favorite item: a redneck wineglass, which was basically a Mason jar attached to a wine glass stem.  We were starving post Epcot craziness.  I went with The Hot Diggidy Dog.  It was a delicious wrap with honey mesquite turkey, Gouda, bacon (smoked on the premises), leaf lettuce, cucumber rings, Sweet Thai Chili Sauce, and cusabi ranch.  It was sweet and spicy and the ingredients were all high quality and super fresh.  It came with homemade cole slaw and chips.  I also tried their Creamy Tomato Basil  and the Shrimp and Corn soup.  Both were delightful.   We also got the daily special, The Drippy Fish, which was served on Multi Grain bread and contained smoked salmon salad, carmelized onions, greens, and a smoked tomato cream cheese.  Yellow Dog Eats is my new favorite place in Orlando.  If you tire of the Disney flash, head over here to get some local quality flavor served with a smile and a bark.
