Grilled Ham & Cheese Tomato Melt – O’ Bistro

I have been coming to O’ Bistro for lunch for many, many years. It is a lovely place to have a quiet, usually delicious meal. I am fairly certain I have eaten everything on the menu at least once. Or at least snagged a bite off of a friend’s plate. One time I also ate an entire salad that belonged to a great friend’s husband. We were both served the wrong salad; neither one of us wanted to say anything, and they were both delicious! I have had more than one meaningful lunch here. It is the place I go to catch up with teacher friends and is one of the nicest restaurants close to the schoolhouse. I have yet to go to O’ Bistro for dinner, but I have heard wonderful things about the evening menu.
One of the best deals is the Mix and Match. You get 1/2 a sandwich and a side for $8.95. The Tomato Basil Bisque is one of my all-time favorite soups. My friend Theresa opted for the Turkey with Eggplant Fries.

I love the Ham and Cheese. This cardiac episode inducing sandwich contains Boar’s Head honey ham, Vermont White Cheddar, Mild Cheddar, Imported Swiss, tomato, and honey mustard. All of these quality ingredients are  served up on a melt in your mouth, toasted on the inside croissant.  I felt blissful while eating this with the Eggplant Fries (served with a tasty marinara sauce that needed to be heated to be perfect!)  in a beautifully decorated environment. I then  felt a strong need to hit the gym afterward for an extended period.

Gooey salty goodness and gossip? What more could a gal ask for!?

I originally blogged about this place in 2009. I have been back for countless more meals. I can now verify that they offer a perfect menu in the evening, especially for happy hour on Wednesdays. After one particularly stressful school day, Theresa and I enjoyed several small bites and a few well-deserved cocktails.

Tomato Basil Bisque

Chicken and Black Bean Quesadilla

Jumbo Shrimp Casserole-with Feta, capers, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil. Incredible.

The World’s Sweetest Husband and I also chose to spend last Valentine’s Day at O’Bistro. It was a wonderfully delicious and romantic meal.

Duck Terrine

Surf and Turf

Pan Seared Duck Breast

Cheers to Love!!

By the time I leave St. Petersburg, this post could potentially be 14 pages long.
