Turkey Cuban – Lucky Dill Deli

Where to go on a lovely October day for a delicious sandwich? If you are in St. Petersburg, Florida, the answer is the Lucky Dill. This New York style deli offers outdoor seating, which is just about perfection this time of year. The set up for ordering was a little crazy; signs posted said “Order Inside”. We went inside, made our choices, then stood at the counter while several workers just looked at us…then walked away. After a few minutes of this, a server took our order. The menu is extensive; everything from wraps to salads to melts to burgers and some wonderful side items. They also boast “The Dagwood Challenge”. This monster is $19.95 and 3 pounds of meat. I was not up to the challenge, so I went with the Turkey Cuban.

Turkey breast, Swiss, Bacon, and Cole Slaw pressed on Cuban bread with a side of Russian Dressing. This sandwich was simply…..amazing. The ingredients were top notch. It was exactly the right amount of sweet and crunchy and salty and chewy goodness…..exactly what I am looking for in a quality sandy.

We also tried the Brie Grilled Cheese; Brie and Cranberry Chutney on Sourdough. Sadly they were out of Sourdough and the Chutney was almost nonexistent. I will definitely be heading back to the Lucky Dill…..I want to try the Reuben Cuban!!!

I’ve never been there, but your sandwich review makes me want to head over ASAP! We were looking for a place to go with outdoor seating just this weekend, too!
