Steak Sandwich (Bistec) – Aguila Sandwich Shop

There is nothing better than a lazy vacation day when I stumble into a fantastic sandwich place. Such is the case with the Aguila Sandwich Shop (3200 W. Hillsborough Avenue, Tampa, FL, 33614). We had originally planned on lunching at another spot that turned out to be a little on the sketchy side. Thanks to Foursquare, we ended up at this small and super busy restaurant. The place was packed and we ended up sitting directly under the counter at the front. Even though the place was filled to the brim, our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Per the server’s advice, I went with the Steak Sandwich (the regular is only $4.75 and HUGE) and the best boyfriend ever went with the large Cuban (also only $4.75 and ENORMOUS). My sandy was incredible! It was perfectly done and came topped with some little pieces of potato crunchy goodness and lettuce and tomato. The Cuban was in my top five list in the Tampa Bay area.

We also sampled the Stuffed Potato (so good) and a Ham and Swiss Empanada. I topped it all off with the best Cafe con Leche I have ever had. This restaurant was also featured on an episode of Man vs. Food which is pretty cool. The atmosphere is a family vibe, the staff is welcoming, and the food is awesome. I’ll for sure head back to this place.

It’s my favorite little sandwich shop and I always take visitors there. Great review!
