Smokin’ Gouda and Turkey
Whenever I visit my BF Stacy in Denver, she asks me where I would like to eat. My answer, always, is Racines. We chose to sit outside, which was lovely….and a bit slanted as the table we were seated at was on a definite tilt. I will preface this review with saying that Stacy is the best kind of gal to go to a ladies’ lunch with. She encourages afternoon drinking, she invariably has an adventure to report, and she is always up for splitting two items. We opt for the Smokin’ Gouda and Turkey as choice #1. Turkey, Gouda, cranberry sauce, and mayo on a fresh croissant. A comfort sandwich with that fancy cheese kick. This rarely happens to me, but item #2 was the star of the show.
The Nutty Cheese Salad is my new favorite salad. Mixed organic field greens with white cheddar and fontina cheeses, sliced bananas, sunflower seeds, toasted almonds, cashews, avocado and tomatoes with honey mustard dressing. Bananas? It sounds so wrong, but it was altogether right. I could pretty much eat that salad on a daily basis. Racines was also very accomodating when we informed the server of the split plan; they equally divided everything beautifully. I sometimes catch myself daydreaming of that salad, and of Stacy’s recent trip to Ecuador. Racines, I wish you had a Tampa branch.
