Ramen Burger – Florida State Fair

Ramen Burger – Florida State Fair

As you go along in the adventure of life called marriage, you learn new things about your spouse as the days go by. Fact: The World’s Most Fun Husband had never attended a fair in his life. He was raised in a world that contained Disney and Busch Gardens; the fair just wasn’t that big of a deal in his household growing up. In my world, the Hill County Fair in Havre, Montana, was just about the height of the summer season.  If you have been following my posts lately, you know that we are on a slippery slope of destiny with Spencer’s impending residency after he receives his MD next spring. The thought of not always being around Tampa has upped our local activity game. These facts, plus the powerful pull of “Fair Food”, pushed us over to Tampa on a recent sunny Sunday.

I maybe sang “Afro Circus” more than once.

I am not a big fan of roller coasters, but I always enjoyed spinning like crazy. My fondest ride memories were from the chuck-inducing Tilt-a-Whirl. Providence placed that ride directly at the entrance. I had not been on a ride in years; I laughed so hard I cried. Much props to the Husband; that was definitely not his favorite part of the day.

That was just about the extent of our riding that day. Later we would enjoy a Sky Ride, which was more our speed. We slaked our thirst with some Homemade Soda (Birch Beer for him, Sarsaparilla for me) and went in search of the elusive and buzzworthy Ramen Burger.

If you go to the Fair and don’t partake in one of the ubiquitous corn dog stands, I don’t want to know you. Spencer enjoyed his first-ever corn dog and the magic that is “Cheese on a Stick”.

One of our “goals” for the day was to try one of the new funnel cakes.

Our sandwich trek came to fruition with the eventual discovery of the burger stand. Offerings included an Ice Cream Burger, a Donut Burger, and the much sought after Ramen Burger. The name is derived from the fact that the bun is comprised of Ramen noodles. The burger itself was solid and topped with Asian slaw and an Oriental sauce of mayo, ketchup, soy sauce, hoisin and sugar. It was good; this Montana gal actually liked that Cheese on a Stick the best.

Classy

I had never been to the Florida State Fair either. We enjoyed ourselves; we also decided we could wait another decade or so before attending another Fair.

  1. That Ramen Noodle burger was blowing up my instagram feed. It looks interesting!

I am so jealous of your fair adventure. My husband hates the fair. Since this was your first fair experience in Florida, you have to go to the Strawberry festival. Now that’s some good eating! it’s much smaller than the FL State Fair.

Pretty sure I won’t be talking my husband into any more fairs soon. I have never been to the Strawberry Festival!!! That is a great idea, Denise.

  3. I like to go to the fair every few years to get my people watching in. Last year we went to the Strawberry Festival and it was definitely interesting! I’ve sort of always wanted to try that Ramen Burger!

Some of the best people watching definitely occurs at the fair. It is a whole different planet!! It was fun to try, but I am hands-down a fried cheese kind of gal.
