Peachtree Special – Max Lager’s Wood Fired Grill and Brewery
The World’s Best Husband and I love to travel. We were lucky enough to have some time off together over the holidays; we chose to drive to Atlanta for a quick weekend. As a couple, we had not spent any time in the great state of Georgia. We were happy to explore this cold, fun, diverse city.
On a windy and rainy Saturday morning, we ventured from our home away from home, the Hyatt Place, and walked over to the CNN Center for a Studio Tour. Word to the wise: get your tickets online. We skipped a lot of lines thanks to the magic of the internet. I was not expecting much from the tour; I love it when I am wrong. It was so entertaining and informative, and we actually saw a portion of a live broadcast.
We then explored Centennial Olympic Park. What a beautiful place! There was not much going on due to the weather, but we enjoyed checking everything out.
After all of this fun, we headed back toward the hotel. Lucky for us, Max Lager’s Wood-Fired Grill and Brewery is adjacent to the Hyatt Place. When in Rome, drink as the Romans do. The waitress pointed me toward the award-winning IMOS (Imperial Mocha Oatmeal Stout.) Cheers to you, beer maiden, it was delicious.
Spencer ordered the Blues Burger. He is a big fan of blue cheese burgers, and this one was a mile high and can be made with beef or bison. (He went bison.) The burger was good, the bun fell completely apart after the first bite. Burger let down.
We quickly learned that all streets and several menu items are “Peachtree” in Atlanta. The Peachtree Special is a wood-fired chicken sandwich with white cheddar, bacon, onion mayo, and an onion roll. It sounded amazing; it was sadly nothing special. The seasoned fries were excellent.
Vacation calories don’t count; with that in mind, we ordered the Mile High Chocolate Cake. It was decadent.
I can highly recommend that cake and that IMOS. We actually went back the next day for just those two items.
