Lobster and Crab Burger
I am a lucky gal in the sense that I have many mother-type figures in my life. On a recent Saturday, I found myself at The Capital Grille (the International Plaza and Bay Street location in Tampa) with my Mom, my Mother-in-Law, and my favorite Words With Friends partner, my MIL’s sister, Aunt Mary. These three are a smart and friendly bunch. They were also willing to share bites, so they are all fine women in my book.
The Capital Grille is my new favorite restaurant in the fancy pants category. The ambiance is second to none; this place oozes sophistication out of its pores. The service is always spot-on; any time I am in a place where the waiter quickly replaces your white napkin with a black one due to the color of your pants, you know immediately you will be taken care of. Another cool thing we noticed: the private wine lockers. For a yearly fee, you can have your own stash inside the restaurant. The food philosophy here is to take super fresh ingredients, cook them in the tastiest way possible, and then display them beautifully.
My Mother-in-Law and Aunt split the Lobster Macaroni and Cheese (just as decadent and delicious as it sounds) and a Fresh Tomato, Mozzarella, and Balsamic Salad.
My mom ordered the gorgeous Caesar Salad with Roasted Chicken and Parmesan Tuile. The Parmesan Tuile was cheese perfection; I could have eaten that all day.
The star of the show, of course, was my Lobster and Crab Burger. The house tartar sauce was a little runny (I prefer a more stable sandwich glue), but the flavors were amazing. Actually, my favorite part may have been the White Cheddar Potato Tots that came as a side. Heavenly.
I have heard about the delicious desserts offered at The Capital Grille; thus far I have been to full to partake. Don’t fret, I’ll be back soon; maybe with the great men in my life next time!
