Holy GuacamoLee Mezrah – Datz

Where to go on a lazy Saturday for lunch? Per the suggestion of The Best Boyfriend Ever’s bro, we hit up Datz in South Tampa. Datz has a very laid back, yet somewhat chic vibe. Touted as an “American Gastropub”, Datz offers everything you could want to drink, gourmet cooking items for sale, and one fantastic bakery area. All that wonderful ambiance matters not to this gal. I ordered this bit of goodness that came piled high with oven-roasted turkey breast, fresh guacamole, creamy cole slaw, muenster cheese, Datz Russian dressing, all on grilled country bread. The ingredients were top notch. I could’ve gone for a little more cole slaw and dressing, but that is because I am a fat girl on the inside. Spencer also shared his April in Paris…..warm melted brie, tomato, arugula, basil pesto, all on grilled country bread. His sandy whooped my sandy’s ass, hands down. The flavors were amazing. Both came with a new favorite side item: Homemade chips with sour cream and chives. Datz is super busy. I don’t mind a wait, and I enjoyed taking in all that the restaurant had to offer. Points to the Bro for the suggestion, Points to Spencer for sharing, Points to me for a great sandwich Saturday. I can’t wait to head back and check out the dinner menu.

***UPDATE*** Since that first visit, I have been back to Datz countless times with the World’s Sweetest Husband. It is now one of our favorite places to eat or grab a drink.

With a  check-in on Yelp , we obtained an order of Monkey Bread. These gooey bits were melt-in-your-mouth good.

Spencer ordered the Dumb Cluck: Beer braised pulled chicken, BBQ sauce, and white cheddar on a sourdough bun. Simple and tasty goodness.

I went with the  Frito® Pie Grilled Cheese: Jack cheddar, roadhouse chili, Fritos® , and pickled jalapenos on grilled sourdough bread. This was a sandwich from the land of my dreams, and it was just as delicious as I imagined it would be.

Entering a state of sandwich-based bliss….

Datz is a little pricey (around $12 for a sandwich) but the food is solid.  I love the addition of texting when your table is ready. Hit up Datz for your next great meal; everyone is doing it!!!
