Farm House Garden Sandwich – Jack’s London Grill

I am always on the look out for a new, quality restaurant. Thanks to my friend Maggie for suggesting Jack’s London Grill right here in St. Petersburg. I met Lori ( one of my all-time-favorite lunch partners!) at Jack’s on a recent Monday. The food and the company did not disappoint.

We had a very friendly waitress who was happy to explain everything to us first-timers. They offer daily specials, local fresh ingredients, trivia night, and some great happy hour specials every day from 12-6:30.  We took in the British-themed decor and began the serious perusal of the menu.

I had a hard time saying “no” to the Scotch Egg for an appetizer, but I am a cheese lover at heart. The Brie to Share appetizer was a fist-sized mound of gooey brie encased in a puff pastry and drizzled with a little balsamic. It was insanely good.

I had a hard time making a sandwich decision. Luckily for me, Lori has always been the type of gal who readily shares, thereby affording me the right to sample two menu options. After much deliberation, she chose the Brighton Butty. The crispy beer-battered haddock was sheer perfection.

My choice was not as impressive to look at, but the flavors in the Farm House Garden Sandwich made it the winner of the day: tomato, basil, goat cheese, olives, lettuce, and a balsamic reduction. This was truly one of the best vegetarian sandwiches I have ever been fortunate enough to encounter.

I cannot wait to go back to this place, maybe for a few beers and trivia night. Oh and one more of those sandwiches.

  1. I have been twice now. I liked the Shepherd’s Pie. I am planning to go for trivia soon.
