Ciccio Cali’s Diablo Wrap
I am a huge fan of the fresh, healthy, and tasty menu items offered at Ciccio Cali in St. Petersburg. This venue is conveniently located in the Northeast Publix Shopping Center. It is usually bumping, but this staff of plenty keeps things moving in a friendly manner. If you go in for a lunch during the week, place your order at the counter and seat yourself while you wait for your delicious fare to arrive. For dinner and weekend brunch, Ciccio’s offers full table service.
Being known as “The Sandwich Gal” means you have to partake in all forms of the mighty sandwich. On a recent lunch, I opted to try the Diablo Wrap: Chopped chicken breast, yellow rice, avocado, mozzarella cheese, and chipotle tomato sauce. This bad boy was spicy goodness, and came with a little bite of potato salad. I ordered a side of blue cheese, because I am all about dipping sauces. I think ranch might actually work better with this particular flavor profile.
How are the salads at Ciccio’s, you may wonder. The short answer? Fantastic. The California Chopped boasts mixed greens, grapes, veggies, walnuts, and gorgonzola crumbs/vinaigrette. The portion is huge, and I love the combination of ingredients.
Ciccio Cali offers brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00-3:00 featuring specialty menu items and beer and wine selections. My husband tried the Bravo Egg Bowl (spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, basil, mushrooms, and parmesan cheese). This one needs a little hot sauce, but it is a perfect choice for the health-conscience.
What Ciccio’s does best is their tried and true bowls. One of my favorites is the Spicy Brazilian. Blackened chopped chicken, black beans, avocado, corn, cheddar, sour cream, and lettuce. As with most bowls, you can choose your base (yellow, sticky, or brown rice, farro, noodles or spaghetti squash) and a dipping sauce of your choice (they have about 15 types to choose from!) I am a white rice kind of gal, and the Ciccio Salsa was a perfect addition to this bowl of magic.
A new top-notch bowl for me is also the Half Moon Fish Taco. This pile of yummy contains grilled Mahi, onions, black beans, salsa, cilantro, jalapenos, lime vinaigrette, guacomole, tortilla strips, lettuce, and wasabi aioli. Ah-mayyyyy-zing.
I have yet to try the StirFry or the drinks; these two items just give me more of a reason to come back. If you are looking for a friendly atmosphere with unique and tasty options, Ciccio Cali is the place for you, future bowl lover.
