Cuban Style Cheese Sandy

Jan 22

A conversation with my BF Allison prompted me to visit the Caribbean Cafe on this windy Saturday.  As this fabulous teeny tiny restaurant is close to my gym and to the schoolhouse, I have had approximately one million sandwiches from here over the years, and the results are always delightful.  The decor is pure Florida…..palm tree paintings abound and the sign for the bathroom states, ” Relief Station”.    Today I went for the Cheese Combo.  The Combo meal comes with a 4 1/2″ pressed sandwich of your choice & a bowl of black beans and yellow rice that I choose to heap chopped onions on top of; all for a steal at $5.50.  The Cheese Sandwich is piled with Provolone & Swiss American, pickles, lettuce, tomato, & mayo on a most wonderful Cuban bread.  It is always a crunchy hot mess to eat, but I can’t truly convey how delectable this sandwich is.  Anyone that comes to visit me invariably gets a trip to the Caribbean Cafe.  Go to there. Now.
