Caprese Grilled Cheese
My never-ending quest to eat all versions of the mighty Grilled Cheese sometimes makes my ordering life easy. That and the fact that I am the least picky eater in the free world. Beak’s St. Pete (note the new name; a Yelp offer was denied as it is still listed under “Beak’s Old Florida Tavern”) is a perfect spot to hit up for a Sunday Funday or a Happy Hour meet-up. There were remnants from a fairly extensive Bloody Mary bar that looked fantastic. The décor is pure Florida beach bar chic (this is where shell art goes to live, friend.)
The appetizers are varied and reasonably priced. The Sweet Corn Nuggets were delicious. The dipping sauce was supposed to be “Jalapeno Ranch”; I am fairly certain it was just Ranch as there was no kick at all.
The World’s Sweetest Husband ordered the Sirloin Burger with Pimento Cheese. It was perfectly cooked, that cheese was amazing, but it was a little cold by the time it got to our table. Spencer enjoyed the upgraded White Truffle Oil and Parmesan Fries.
The Caprese Grilled Cheese was some tasty business. Tons of Mozzarella, Tomato, and a hella flavorful Basil Mayo.
I opted for the side salad option, which was perfect. (The sweetheart waitress offered to make me 1000 Island from scratch, as it is not offered on the menu! I said no thank you, but that was above and beyond the call of duty!)
They may be working out a few kinks, but the base here is good stuff.
**UPDATE** This place is now Butler’s Old Key West Bar & Grill. Has anyone been!?
