A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Aug 29

By some dude named William Shakespeare.  I try to read something by Shakespeare every summer.  This is one of my all time favorites.  This story focuses on the different aspects and perspectives and mysteries of love.  Hermia loves Lysander, but her Dad wants her to marry Demetrius.  Hermia’s BFF Helena loves Demetrius, but he wants nothing to do with her.  That quad is the main focus, but there are wonderful things afoot in the forest one magical night.  The fairy king, Oberon,  is pissed at his wife Titania.  He orders Robin Goodfellow (a puck) to apply a special flower that makes the recipient fall in love with the next being they see.  Of course, nothing goes as planned; confusion, love, and hilarity ensue.  I will always enjoy reading the cadence of Shakespeare.  I appreciate how the issues of love are timeless.  Lysander states: “The course of true love never did run smooth”.
