2014- My Favorite Reads and Eats

As I look back on 2014, my goals for the new year are clear: Read more, eat less. As always, I count on you, Glorious Reader, to point me in the direction of quality books and delicious sandwiches and offer your feedback on my choices for the same. Cheers to a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2015! (Click on the colored link for the full review.)

Top 5 Books I read in 2014:

5. Damned-Chuck Palahniuk is always a good bet if you want to read something with a warped view. A 13-year old girl in Hell? Perfect. Thanks to my brother Casey for the suggestion.

4. The Book Thief-Markus Zusak paints a heartbreaking tale of a young girl in Hitler-Era Germany. I decide to maybe buy stock in the Kleenex company.

3. And the Mountains Echoed-An author that speaks to your soul? For me, that is Khaled Hosseini. I liked this story even more than The Kite Runner.

2. Wild-Could a nature hater such as myself love a book about a 1000+ mile hike? Apparently so. You will be fascinated by Cheryl Strayed’s blatant honesty and superb writing style. Thanks to my friend Alicia for suggesting/letting me borrow #2, #3, and #4! I love your taste in books.

1. The Fault in Our Stars– John Green’s poignant love story about two highly witty teens with cancer made me feel all of the emotions ever.

Top 5 Sandwiches of 2014:

5. The Meze Original-Vegetarian Goodness at its finest is located at Meze 119.

4. Farm House Garden-Tastiness from the fine folks at Jack’s London Grill.

This Brie appetizer is also a great choice!

3. Bird & Pig-The staff at The Bricks of Ybor know their way around a sandwich.

2. Pork Belly BLT-This recent entry quickly became a favorite. Comfort food done at a gourmet level at Kurdi’s.

1. Ahi Tuna– This bit of Heaven from Daily Eats should be on your to-eat list for 2015.

Cheers to 2015!!

I read four out of your five top books but none of your top five sandwiches! There’s something wrong there!

  2. Cheers to 2015, Nikki!
